Hello you beautiful human,
Welcome back to Things I Found, a newsletter that celebrates the random, the interesting, the useful, the informative, the beautiful, the funny, the sometimes difficult - and everything in between.
It’s been a while since the last one. You know, the intention is to be random in periodicity - you may see it that way - but truth is, it’s usually connected with a burst of creativity, relaxation, and carved-out free time that comes with finishing projects.
This one is about a book, but mainly it’s a personal cry: I need someone to talk about this story; my heart is bursting. Say hi, if that’s you.
Now, let’s go.
The thing I found
The book Where the Crawdads Sing.
I found this…
Evocative, real, ambiguous: a well-crafted provocation of dichotomies.
Why?
This book reads like poetry. Each word has a meaning, each sentence, purpose. It reminds me a little of To Kill a Mockingbird, in that makes you fall in love with a little girl from another time, in another place. So foreign, but so close.
It was the type of book that I had to stop myself from reading in bed because, instead of easing me to sleep, it kept me awake craving for more. It made me wonder, think, get reacquainted with dualities, and most of all, feel.
The life described in the book couldn’t be farther from mine. Yet. I couldn’t help but feel deeply connected to the main character. Seeing something of me in her.
Give it a try. Maybe there’s something of you in it too. In any case, it’s a beautiful story, in enthralling writing.
How was it found?
It’s been on best-selling lists for a while, but why I decided to pick it up now escapes me. But I’m so glad I did.
If you’ve read it too, let me know what you thought or felt; would love to talk about it.
That’s it, now. Have a lovely weekend! Maybe try to say hi to your loved ones.
Much care,
