Things I Found | The Icelandverse Edition
Welcome to Things I Found, a celebration of the random, the interesting, the useful, the beautiful, the funny, the sometimes difficult - and everything in between.
Hello you beautiful human,
Welcome back to Things I Found, a newsletter that celebrates the random, the interesting, the useful, the informative, the beautiful, the funny, the sometimes difficult - and everything in between.
The last time you got one of those in your inbox, it was summer. Seasons are changing again, I can barely wait to put my Christmas tree up, and with the end of the year approaching, I’ve been on a loop to decide what’s next.
I’m giving a go on short documentary making, will probably spend winter months in warmer places, and chances are shrtcttng will be back.
And you? Are you thinking about how do you want to spend your time next year?
Maybe today’s edition will give you an inspiration of what to do, or where to go. Or at least, put a smile on your face.
Now, let’s go.
The thing I found
This video about the Icelandverse.
I found this…
Silly, funny, witty.
Why?
The humour just gets me.
If you’re reading this newsletter, chances are you work in an industry where Zuck’s Meta has some sort of influence, and you’ve seen at least a snippet of his hour-long, try-hard, awkward announcement.
The Iceland video takes every element from the keynote and spins it around with a witty sense of humour, made to poke fun at Zuck and his digital world, while trying to convince viewers that Iceland is a beautiful place worth visiting, with people who seem to be just the right type of weird.
Having just come back from Mexico, energised by its amazing people above all else, I cannot help but smile at this, and how inviting it is.
How was it found?
Somewhere deep on the internet. Jokes. Someone posted it on LinkedIn.
That’s it for now. Who knows when the next one will be. Until then, take care and choose joy.
Much care,
Nicole Ingra
